UCC History and Polity Courses
Instructors: Tim Downs and Kathy Clark, with Gregg Carlson
The purpose of this course is to explore the history, polity, theologies, and practices of the United Church of Christ and its predecessor denominations.  The course will include exploration of current ecumenical conversations, denominational identity, African-American traditions within the UCC, case studies around current issues of polity and structure, justice and witness, emerging trends within the United Church of Christ, and more.  This course will fulfill the history and polity requirement for ordination or privilege of call in the UCC.

The 2010 offering of the course “The History, Polity and Practices of the United Church of Christ”, will be a hybrid distance learning course, with face to face meetings as well as on-line engagement.  Those who desire academic credit may register through Candler School of Theology for the spring semester, 2010.

Registration for credit can be done on line through Candler.  The course can be audited by signing up with the Southeast Conference. Click here for History & Polity Class Registration. The syllabus and book list are available and can be secured by emailing Tim Downs or Kathy Clark.
